Acrobatic gymnastics is amongst the oldest sports practiced by the ancient Eqyptians. It is practiced by both boys and girls (including men and women).
A beautiful sport that combines pure elegance with dynamic movement, gymnasts perform together in several different types of partnerships.
They perform routines to music lasting 2.30 minutes for NDP grades and 2 minutes for the World Age Groups. Each partner has a specific role to play.
Abbey Road Acro perform at the NDP's (National Development Plan). Competing at the beginner levels A & B and National Levels Grades 1 – 2 – 3 and 4 and the 11 – 16, and junior World Age Groups.
Tumbling is a dynamic sport which when competed, gymnasts perform 3 tumbling passes.
The lower levels start with forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels etc, which must be performed in sequence without stopping until the final move is performed.
As the Levels go up the gymnasts will perform flicks, somersaults, twisting somersaults, whips etc. on a 25 metre tumble track.
Many of our gymnasts have competed at the British Tumbling finals.
